    Top trip tips from Jonas

Jonas Johnsgård grew up at Johnsgård in Sømådalen, a traditional tourism company. From an early age, Jonas has spent a lot of time exploring Sømådalen and the surrounding areas, both on foot, on skis, snowshoes and canoes.

He knows almost every rock, every peak and knows which trips and routes are suitable in different weather and driving conditions. Jonas is an outdoorsman through and through and is passionate about everyone getting out into nature and for more people to have the opportunity to feel safe and comfortable off the beaten track.

He has been active in the Red Cross Auxiliary ever since he was 15, and is a trained guide and ski, climbing and paddling instructor at the College of the Rockies in Canada. He keeps his knowledge alive on daily trips and expeditions and as a guide and instructor at Johnsgård. On top of it all, it is pleasant to be on a trip with Jonas. It is said that people come back to take part in the same course several times, just because they had so much fun on the trip.

At Johnsgård, Jonas runs top hiking courses and in collaboration with Galten Gård he has put together a top hiking package. The package is suitable for everyone who wants to experience the wilderness together and learn more about technique, safety and feel the wonderful feeling of freedom and community in the wilderness.

    Arrival at Galten Gård

You arrive at traditional Galten Gård, where you are welcomed by Gjertrud Eggen and Per Roar Aarnes. They are the 5th generation of drivers on the farm. You will be accommodated in a beautiful cabin, each with their own room and a shared living room, bathroom and kitchen. Galten Gård is widely known for its good food. On today's menu is a 2-course menu with short-traveled food and home-made specialities. Here, of course, it is possible to buy all kinds of beverages and wine packages. Take time to enjoy the great view of the three mighty peaks on Sølenfjellet, it's a beautiful sight from Galten Gård.

    Top tour course with Jonas

The day starts with a home-cooked breakfast and spread of snacks at Galten Gård, before departure to Sømodalen. At Johnsgård Turistsenter there will be adaptation of equipment and a review of essential peak hiking equipment, packing of the bag and plan for the day. Before we start today's trip, we practice good techniques for putting on and taking off traps and mate checks. During the trip, we stop by for route selection and navigation and, of course, technique. We end the trip with a lovely descent, where we get to test whether the technique and equipment work. Then the trip returns to Galten Gård, where a new 2-course dinner awaits and a hot bath in a wood-fired log under the clear starry sky.

    Top trip to Gloføken

The day starts in the same way as the day before, with a good breakfast, greasing food packages, filling thermoses. Today, too, we start with a lesson inside after breakfast. Today's lesson focuses on simple first aid and first aid kit. In addition to the summit trip to Gloføken, today's theme is to practice what we learned yesterday, in addition to learning about first aid on a trip in the winter mountains. After another lovely descent, we end the course at Johnsgård with a sauna and ice bath. We say goodbye to Jonas and Johnsgård and head back to Galten Gård for a wonderful and well-deserved 3-course closing dinner. The choice of destination must always take the weather conditions into account. Note! It may happen that we have to choose a destination other than Gloføken.
