Explore the places in Femund Engerdal. There are many different accommodations, places to eat, national parks and activities ready for you to experience.
We offer accommodation in cabins/houses with a great location next to Femunden in the small hamlet of Sorken in Engerdal municipality. The units are located in a ring, and are part of an old ferdasgard. Already 250 – 300 years ago there were overnight guests here on their way to and from Røros. We have an open farm museum in the summer.
Engerdal municipality is located in Hedmark county and borders Sweden in the east and Sør-Trøndelag in the north. The largest 'conurbations' are Engerdal and Drevsjø, but the settlements are characterized by large distances and scattered settlements. Outback, soil, forests and waterways are important for business in the municipality. The municipality is mainly located 600 – 800 m above sea level, is 2195 m2 in size and has approx. 1450 inhabitants. In Engerdal, Norway's southernmost Sami reindeer herding is found, and the reindeer can often be seen in the northern half of the municipality. There are two national parks; Femundsmarka and Gutulia. Norway's second largest natural lake is Femund - a lake rich in fish surrounded by magnificent nature. Here, the Fæmund II ferry has a fixed route in the summer. Due to its rich fish and animal life, the area is a historically important fishing area.
Engerdal has a lot to offer whether you like to walk your own atmospheric paths or participate in organized activities. Nature offers everything from silence, atmosphere, eternity and grandeur in untouched mountain and forest areas to drama and wildness along the river. In our forests and mountains you can meet rare animals and the four big predators; bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine.
