There, the strong-armed Hans lifted himself up and down between the floors with his bare arms. The disability did not prevent him from acquiring, and driving, one of the very first cars that came to the municipality. He managed the braking gallantly by hand - by pressing a wooden stick against the foot pedal! Hans Sorken took the motifs from nature and the wilderness in Engerdal. He eventually built a workshop on Drevsjø, and there many beautiful works were created, the most commonly used type of wood being maple.

Several of the churches in the municipality are decorated with his works. Some of his works can also be seen in the town hall. On request, Engerdal church can be unlocked for viewing, contact the municipal hall next to the church. At the Forestry Museum in Elverum, you can see one of Sorken's large wooden sculptures - a group of timber floats.

At Vestre Sorken holiday farm there is an open museum in the summer Vestre Sorken Feriegård has both a museum and a cafe. When you enter the old farm at Vestre Sorken, it's like stepping back in time several hundred years. In the summer, the museum is open and the price also includes a tour of the rest of the farm. We also have an open café in the priest's living room where it is possible to be served waffles, coffee and juice. But you can also enjoy the food outside. To order, we serve homemade sour cream porridge, rolls and cakes. We have room for 25 people in one room and 50 people in two rooms.
