The master builders were young shepherds who built a number of houses including a church while the cattle rested after feeding on the juicy, green grass in Skjæråsen. Engerdal chose a cultural memory made by children during the nationwide cultural memory relay in 1997. The Stenlekehusene received one of the relay's honorary awards. It takes about 30 minutes to walk there on the marked path from Nordre Vollen by the road between Engerdalssetra and Sølenstua.
