Erling's father learned the craft from the Smith brothers, who first made annual summer visits to Galten in the 1900th century. The Smith brothers' interest in fishing with artificial fishing flies was introduced to Scandinavians in England. "Engerdalsjokeren", "Jonas", "Dreperen", "Sandra" and "Verre enn Minken" are fishing flies from the hand of Erling Sands. Erling had an archive of more than 20.000 fly recipes and a considerable collection of fly fishing literature. A selection of Sand's fishing flies can be seen in the municipal hall, opening hours 09.00 - 14.30.
